SCARBOROUGH – The Scarborough Public Library will host the mystery author event “Death in Shorts: Rogue Wave” on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 2:00 pm. The program will feature a panel of authors whose short stories appear in Level Best Books’ twelfth anthology, Best New England Crime Stories 2015: Rogue Wave. The panel will be moderated by Katherine Fast, co-editor of Level Best. Following are the panelists:

• Maurissa Guibord is the author of two fantasy books for young adults (Warped, 2011 and Revel, 2013) as well as numerous short stories for both adults and children. She has been a finalist for the Rita award as well as the Agatha award. Maurissa is a resident of Scarborough.

• Dale T. Phillips grew up in Maine and studied writing with Stephen King at the University of Maine. He has published over thirty short stories and four novels, three in the Zack Taylor series. He’s appeared on stage, television, and in an independent feature film. Dale also competed on two nationally televised quiz shows, Jeopardy and Think Twice—and in his words, lost spectacularly both times.

• Karla M. Whitney publications include textbooks, non-fiction articles, and illustrations. More to the Point is her first published fiction. Her second mystery novel and a slew of single panel comics are in the works. She’s a member of SinC, MWA, and the Portland Museum of Art. She and her husband live here in Maine.

This event is free to attend and open to the public. Copies of the anthology will be available for purchase, and refreshments will be included. FMI, visit the Library’s website at
