Orwell's 1984: One Book, Many Conversations

Discussion, Orwell, 1984, One Book, Many Conversations

We invite you to join us for a nation-wide conversation of George Orwell’s book, 1984. Discussions grounded in literature can initiate productive exchanges—giving everyone in the conversation a common point of reference for examining and articulating their ideas and perspectives. From October 9-15, One Book, Many Conversations will convene people around the country through online forums and local groups to discuss this seminal work. Together we will delve into the nature of citizenship, the sources of power – and what it takes to be a leader, to be courageous, and to love another human being. These themes cross all partisan boundaries. Our discussion moderator will be Jonathan R. Werner. Jonathan is a Library & Instructional Technology Specialist at the Cape Elizabeth Library and Learning Commons. He is the Immediate Past President of the ISTE Librarians Network and serves as an advisor to the DOE's Future Ready Librarians campaign. To Register, call Adult Reference at 883-4723 option 4, or email askSPL [at] scarboroughlibrary.org.
