    • For Students in Grades 5-12: Bookworms, our weekly book group for students in Grades 6 thru 8, often read and discuss books that are made into movies. Is a book better then the movie version, or is the movie version better then the book? Explore that question yourself at this screening of Wonder, the recently released film based on the best-selling book by the same name.   Popcorn and beverages will be included, and we’ll have a display of other great books and the movies that they’ve inspired for you to check out. Maybe the afternoon will inspire you to join Bookworms too! A reminder that parents/guardians of children under 10 must remain in the Library during the event.

    • Dungeons & Dragons is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game originally made popular in the early 1970’s. Join a group of fellow adventurers to explore magical worlds, take on challenges, and become heroes! We will be running short games to give new or experienced players a taste of the game. Times, games, and appropriate ages follow: · 11:30 am to 12:30 pm Tour of the Robot Factory (suggested age 7-10) · 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm When Skeletons Walk (suggested age 10-13) · 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm Adventures in a Fantasy Land (suggested age 12+) Sign ups are requested but not required.     • So sorry...the February Minecraft Miner Day is cancelled.New Schedule: Every Fourth Sunday of the month starting January 28, 2018! Explore the Library’s Minecraft world created by our volunteer “tech teens!.” We’ll begin with a session just for beginners at 1:00 PM, then everyone can join in starting at 2:00 PM. If you’ve created your own Minecraft world, bring it along to show others on our big screen! Computers will be available, or you can bring your own laptop. No sign up is needed—just drop in! Please remember that children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

    • The Scarborough Library is pleased to offer a teen writing group for grades 6-12, offered in collaboration with Portland Writers Group Maine (PWGM). Teen writers will have the chance to receive feedback on their work and comment on others’ writing. All genres are welcome, including fantasy, sci-fi, poetry, and nonfiction. Each workshop will include a short session about topics such as point of view, voice, characterization, and critiquing skills. The Scarborough Teen Writers Group (STWG) will meet every fourth Monday of the month.
