Kerstin Gilg

Development Coordinator

I'm honored to work with the Scarborough Public Library and contribute to its role as a vital cultural center for the Scarborough community. I'm deeply committed to the mission of service organizations and their essential work in promoting well-being and expanding economic opportunity.

My understanding of storytelling and visual communication was shaped early by comic books and graphic novels. As an adult, I've been influenced by writers who examine how systems function and what creates meaningful change. Robert Pirsig's meditations on craft and quality in Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Robert Caro's exploration of power and urban planning in The Power Broker, and David Foster Wallace's inquiry into priorities and meaning in A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again. These influences shape my approach to work. I'm driven by curiosity about how systems serve people, committed to quality and intentionality in what I do, and a belief that stories are profoundly valuable in how we understand ourselves, each other, and our world.
