    • Calendar: Scarborough Public Library Teens
    • Start time: 03:00pm
    • The Scarborough Teen Writers Group (STWG) for grades 9-12 is offered in collaboration with Portland Writers Group Maine (PWGM). Gatherings are held the third Monday of the month from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm in October, November, December, March, and May, and the second Monday in April. Each gathering will introduce different ways to inspire your work—from prompts and storyboards, to online tools like Twine, an online tool for telling interactive, nonlinear stories.

    • We're excited to be partnering once again with Rachel McDonnell, Alayna Hebert, and Chrystine Muncherian to host another Girls Who Code Club at the Library on Thursdays from 3:30pm to 4:30pm starting September 12 and ending December 19. Girls Who Code Clubs are free after-school programs for girls (in this case, Grades 6-8) to join a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models to use computer science to change the world. The curriculum focuses on a Girls Who Code Project where girls work in teams to solve a real world problem they care about through code. To participate, send an email to gwcscarborough@gmail.com, and Rachel, Alayna, or Chrystine will provide information on how to register through the Girls Who Code platform.

  1. Spooktacular Lock In
    • Calendar: Scarborough Public Library Teens
    • Start time: 06:00pm
    • Teen in Grades 6 thru 8: Take over the Library for a night of “Spooktacular” themed activities planned by the Library's Teen Advisory Board (TAB). Doors will open at 6:00 pm, then we’ll “lock in” everyone at 6:30 pm for two hours of games and fun activities! Pick up is at 8:30 pm. Haunted stacks, arcade-style games, fortune telling, crafts, snacks...and more are in the works! Pre-Register by 5:00 pm October 23. Minimum of 25 must be registered.   1. Minecraft Miner Day
    • Calendar: Scarborough Public Library Teens
    • Start time: 01:00pm
    • Every Fourth Sunday of the month. Explore the Library’s Minecraft world created by our volunteer “tech teens!.” We’ll begin with a session just for beginners at 1:00 PM, then everyone can join in starting at 2:00 PM. If you’ve created your own Minecraft world, bring it along to show others on our big screen! Computers will be available, or you can bring your own laptop. No sign up is needed—just drop in! Please remember that children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
